Prediksi Pertandingan Argentina vs Mexico : The first Round of 16 match on Sunday 27 June 2010 sees Argentina vs Mexico at Soccer City in Johannesburg. Report includes football betting tips. What a mouth-watering prospect on Sunday 27 June 2010 when Argentina and Mexico, two of the most entertaining teams so far in the Fifa World Cup, meet in the Round of 16 tie at Soccer City in Johannesburg.
Argentina So Far in the Fifa World Cup
Argentina stormed to three wins and maximum points in their group games and did it with a flair and style that can not have failed to impress. Their most cautious game, unsurprisingly, was the opener against Nigeria, which they won through an early goal by Gabriel Heinze. Only a splendid display by Nigeria’s goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama kept the score respectable.
The gloves were off though when Argentina took the field for their second match. South Korea were the victims and despite a plucky display could do nothing to stop Argentina running riot. Gonzalo Higuain was the man of the match as his hat-trick formed the foundation for the South Americans’ 4-1 victory.
That win almost but not quite put Argentina into the next round. All they had to do was avoid a heavy defeat against Greece, but losing was not on the agenda as they set themselves out for a win from the start. Greece held out for most of the match and it took late strikes from Martin Demichelis and Martin Palmero to give Argentina a 2-0 victory.
Mexico So Far in the Fifa World Cup
Mexico would have preferred an easier Round of 16 tie as their performance in terms of results has not been anywhere near as impressive. The same cannot be said for the beautiful football they have played with the one flaw being a lack of strike power upfront that has seen some gorgeous moves come up empty.
This was shown in the tournament’s opening showpiece when they could easily have come unstuck against South Africa. The hosts went into the lead shortly after half time through Siphiwe Tshabalala and it took a late goal by Rafael Marquez to save the Mexican blushes and rescue a point.
There were no such fears in the second match against a dispirited French team. Cuauhtemoc Blanco added a late penalty to Javier Hernandez’s goal on the hour mark to give them a 2-0 win.
This set up a final group match against Uruguay in which they only needed a draw to qualify though a win would give them a better Round of 16 game than Argentina. They went for it but again the lack of firepower took its toll and they ended up losing 1-0. South Africa could not score the necessary bagful of goals against France to take advantage of this and Mexico were through.
Their best bet to cure the goal problem could be letting Javier Hernandez have the field from the start rather than bringing him on as a substitute. The fact that the player has class was proven by Manchester United signing him just before the tournament started and he will be an Old Trafford player next season.
Football Betting Odds For Argentina vs Mexico
Football betting tips: Not surprisingly, Argentina are odds on favourites to win this match with 4/7 being the best on offer though 1/2 and 4/9 are popular for a ninety minute win.
